National Broadcasting Commission Applauds FUTA Radio

The Head of the National Broadcasting Commission, Akure Office, Mr. Akinsunkanmi Ademola has given kudos to the operations of the Radio Station of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA Radio 93.1 FM describing it as an excellent station.Mr. Ademola stated this while receiving some Board members of the Station on a  familiarization visit to his office on Wednesday,4th September 2019.Ademola said “ in terms of programme content, quality of delivery your station is doing excellently well.  I listen to the Station regularly and I can boast that among its peers FUTA Radio 93.1 FM is doing well”. Speaking further he said “our office and your Station are in very good terms in area of relationship.  We have come a long way and we can only improve on our symbiotic relationship to make it better”. He emphasized the reason behind establishing Campus Radio which is to train students in making them entrepreneurs.  He added that the Campus Radio is also to educate, inform and entertain.

Speaking earlier, the Board Chairman, Professor Tomola Obamuyi appreciated the assistance and support FUTA Radio has received from NBC over the years and said the essence of the visit was to formally appreciate the support of officials of NBC  and further seal the existing smooth working relationship  between the Station and the NBC which is the  regulatory body. Professor Obamuyi said members of the Board have heard a lot of positive things about the NBC, Akure and its leader and  posited that  the relationship will be better. Professor Obamuyi and other members of the team emphasized the role of a University to the community which can be also be strengthened  through the use of Radio as a viable medium of communication.  “A University aside from its role in teaching and research is also established to affect the community.  A University that does not affect the community positively is not worth its salt” the Board members added. They also said NBC and FUTA Radio can collaborate in the area of training, digital broadcasting and technicalities like signal interference and others.

Professor Obamuyi led a team of seven delegates including Dr. Oyetunji Samson, Mr. Ademola Bobola, Mr. Wale Akinyanmi, Mr. Adegbenro Adebanjo, Mr. Tunde Adeye and Mr. Michael Oguntolu.
